Interventional cardiologist Dr. Awadhesh Kumar Sharma is a youthful, conscientious, and energetic physician. His undergraduate studies were at GSVM Medical College in Kanpur, and he received his MD in Internal Medicine from MLB Medical College in Jhansi. Then he completed his DM in Cardiology superspecialization degree at PGIMER and DR Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi. He had a stellar academic record, earning Gold Medals in MBBS, MD, and DM. For his academic achievement, he was also given the chief ministers medal by Hon. Mayawati, the former chief minister of the UP, in 2009.Additionally, he has received a GEMS international prize. He most recently earned the Hon. Ashwani Chaubey Ji Award for Best Interventional Cardiologist from the central health minister. Additionally, he received honorary fellowships from the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and FSCAI. He was widely published both domestically and abroad. Cardiology, both invasive and non-invasive, was of particular interest to him. More than 15000 invasive cardiac intervention procedures, such as coronary angiography, simple and complex angioplasty, peripheral vascular angiography and angioplasty, carotid angiography and angioplasty, ASD, PDA device closures, Mitral valvotomy, and more, had been successfully completed by him up to this point. Additionally, he serves on the editorial boards of numerous national and international journals, including EC Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine, Clinical Cardiology Update, United Journal of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine, and Journal of Clinical Medicine & Research (JCMR). He participates actively in numerous journals’ reviewer boards as well. He participates actively in several professional organisations, such as the Indian Medical Association, the Cardiological Society of India (CSI), APVIC, ICC, and API. At the NABH-accredited Grecian Hospital in Mohali from 2014 to 2016, he had worked as an interventional cardiologist at RML Hospital in New Delhi from 2011 to 2014. He is currently employed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh as an Assistant Professor of Cardiology at the prestigious LPS Institute of Cardiology, GSVM Medical College, Kanpur (UP). Each year, he actively participates in the instruction of 60 paramedical students and 27 postgraduates (DM Cardiology).
